The in-between season

I came across this picture and it got me thinking….

Many of us may have heard of ‘betwixmas’ – the lull between Christmas and New Year, it has a name, even if it’s not officially accredited.

This time of year feels similar.

The quiet stretch between winter and spring – not quite resting, not quite blooming (apart from the weather being bloomin’ awful!).

Nature doesn’t rush, and yet still gets everything done.

Growth, in business as much as nature, happens in cycles and not sprints.  Sometimes there’s  a mismatch between external signals (and ‘the noise’) with ‘The New Year’, ‘New Quarter’ ‘Spring’  and our internal readiness.

Those moments are designed to spark attention, focus or momentum. But intention alone doesn’t create growth.  Readiness matters, capacity matters and timing matters.

Productivity, effectiveness and resilience don’t come from forcing movement — they come from moving in rhythm.

Which brings me back to the image.

A bird nesting in a traffic light on amber.

🔸Not stopped.
🔸Not rushing ahead.
🔸Just… waiting for the right moment.

That feels about right.
